John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial': Watch Trailer to New Docuseries

Netflix has officially announced the trailer release for its highly anticipated documentary centered on the life, legacy, and untold stories of the late music icon John Lennon. Titled “Lennon: Imagine Forever,” the documentary promises to offer an intimate and emotional look into the extraordinary life of the former Beatle, with never-before-seen footage, personal interviews, and rare recordings. The streaming giant also confirmed that the documentary is slated for a global release on September 12, 2025.

The announcement instantly sparked excitement across the globe. Music fans, Beatles enthusiasts, and pop culture followers took to social media to share their eagerness to see the documentary, which is already being called one of the most anticipated music documentaries in recent years. Within hours of the trailer’s debut, it had already garnered millions of views on YouTube and Netflix’s official social media pages.

The trailer itself offers a glimpse into the emotional depth of the film. It opens with archival footage of John Lennon at the height of Beatlemania, before quickly shifting to quieter, more personal moments — candid shots of Lennon writing songs at home, playful moments with his son Sean, and intimate conversations with his wife, Yoko Ono. The documentary traces Lennon’s journey from his early days in Liverpool to the worldwide success of The Beatles, followed by his transformative solo career and activism for peace.

Narrated by some of the closest people to Lennon, including Yoko Ono, Paul McCartney, and his son Julian Lennon, the film also features commentary from contemporary artists and activists who were deeply influenced by Lennon’s music and message.

“John’s music was about more than fame,” Yoko Ono says in the trailer. “It was about love, peace, and the courage to speak your truth. This documentary captures that spirit beautifully.”

Netflix’s official statement described the project as “a celebration of John Lennon’s genius, his revolutionary voice for peace, and his enduring impact on generations.” Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, known for his work on Going Clear and The Inventor, the documentary took nearly three years to complete, with unprecedented access to Lennon’s archives.

In addition to interviews and archival footage, the film will include restored versions of some of Lennon’s most iconic performances, including “Imagine,” “Give Peace a Chance,” and “Working Class Hero.” Fans will also hear personal audio recordings and letters from Lennon, offering a raw and personal look at his thoughts on fame, love, politics, and family.

As the release date approaches, anticipation continues to build. Netflix has also announced that a limited theatrical run will precede the streaming debut in select cities worldwide, allowing fans to experience the documentary on the big screen.

For many, Lennon: Imagine Forever is more than a documentary — it’s a chance to reconnect with an artist whose voice continues to inspire millions around the world.
